Hair-rrific

Guess what I have today?

Are you thinking? Think hard. No, no … think long. And hairy.

Now, get your mind out of the gutter. It’s not THAT. For goodness sake. Where would I get one of those?

It is that … I have a ponytail! Woo hoo!

Oh, sure, it’s not long or glamorous, but it is a ponytail! I have my hair on top of my head and it is staying in my fancy 1980s-era scrunchie just fine!

With a few bobby pins, I’m sure I could pull off a fabulous up-do! Now, if I just had an occasion to wear an up-do.

I’m so excited, I can’t stop using exclamation points!!!

The last time I had a ponytail was in early April 2006. So, nearly 18 months ago. Then, I cut my hair short to prepare for chemo. Then shorter. Then, I had chemo and it all fell out. It has now made it’s way back to tiny ponytail stage. Yippeeeee!

It’s still curly, though I’ve noticed in the last week that the roots of my hair seem to be straight. Or perhaps I ran out of salt in the water softener and it is just making my hair flat. I haven’t decided which it is yet and I’m too lazy to check the water softener, so I’ll just see how my hair grows.

It’s nice to have hair.

It’s nice to not have chemo.

On a slightly related topic, I had a prescription filled today that cost $300. Egads. My insurance covers it, but you have to pay out of pocket first, then they mail you a check. They do not, however, pay you for the interest that money would have earned between the time you spent it and the time the check gets to you. (Also, let’s not forget that Colleen and I will be eating Ramen noodles until the check comes in.) Apparently, the insurance companies missed that day in business class (or were paying a bit too much attention).

  1. If you add steamed broccoli and carrots to ramen noodles, you feel kinda like you’re eating a healthy meal! So what the heck…RAMEN NOODLES IT IS!!! How else could you feed a family of 12 for $1.44? Only in America, dammit….where you can spend your household food budget on healthcare when all the other countries offer it for FREE!!! Geez Louise…can you believe I used to be a REPUBLICAN???
    Love ya,
