‘F’ifteen fabulous facts and factoids

Blogger’s Note: I’m participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge for April 2012, where you blog your way through the alphabet during the month of April. After suffering some writer’s block on D, I got behind and I’m still catching up. So, I’m totally cheating and back-dating this post.

Fact noun: something that actually exists; reality; truth.

Factoid noun: an insignificant or trivial fact

I wanted to write about the REAL f-word, but I decided to go for a PG post instead. Here are a few random facts (and factoids) about me.

  1. My favorite color is blue, green or purple. My least favorite color is pink. This was true before I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I HATE it now.
  2. Despite hating pink, my daughter has the ability to make me love a good pink ribbon.
  3. If I could be anything I wanted to be, I would be a race car driver and a rock star. Judging from the number of points on my license, I have not given up hope on that first dream.
  4. I’m allergic to the adhesives in bandages β€” something I developed during my treatment(s) for cancer. Of course, as it goes with most allergies, finding out about it was kind of exciting.  (And I’ve since learned it is adhesive – not latex – that causes the reaction.)
  5. I knew Andy loved me β€” really, really loved me β€” when he bought me really good tickets to see Celine Dion and he went with me! That, my friends, is what your man should mean when he says “I will do anything for you.”
  6. I always wanted to have a house on water. I bought an extremely modest one 10 years ago. This past year, the dam got a leak and the beautiful lake where I live is a mud pit. πŸ™
  7. I have endless β€” absolutely endless β€” ideas for books and short stories.
  8. I wish I could write all of the time.
  9. I wish we still lived in an era of art benefactors and I could talk some rich noblewoman into paying all of my bills and giving me a nice stipend in exchange for writing her a poem now and then.
  10. Speaking of ideas, I also have endless ideas for: gardening, Halloween costumes, birthday cakes, cake pops, home renovation projects, how to organize my filing cabinets, how to reorganize my kitchen and scrapbooks. There are not enough hours in a lifetime to get them all done.
  11. I want a simpler life.
  12. This evening, I was in a parking lot and my car didn’t start. The same car Andy spent most of last year working on. The same car I just had an engine put in. The same car I can’t even remotely afford to replace. I just sat there. I didn’t even have an emotion I could identify. I just felt like I was going to curl up in the seat and sleep in my car in that parking lot for the rest of my life. Andy and Colleen were both there and they wouldn’t stop talking, but if they hadn’t been there, I’d probably be sleeping there right now. I’m just so tired of it all.
  13. I am probably going to have a root canal tomorrow. It will be my third.
  14. I used to have a gold tooth. The dentist who put it in said it would be best for a molar that I grind. It lasted about 10 years. When I had to have it replaced, a new dentist said there were newer materials that were just as durable, yet cheaper, than gold. Since getting that tooth six years ago, it has come unglued three times and has had to be replaced once because it broke. I want my gold tooth back.
  15. I dream of a day when I can take an annual vacation.
